Rush Butomus umbellatus grows up to 3 feet high and has long and narrow, dark green, pointy leaves.
The leaves can be hard to identify as they
tend to look like weeds..
From late summer until
early fall, very long stems rise above the foliage and produce large umbrellas of rose-colored flowers.
Flowers have
3 petals and 3 sepals, are white or pink, and
form a distinctive flat-topped spray on top a
tall stalk.
It should be planted in rich soil, under water no deeper than 3 to 5 inches.
This plant can be potted, or the rooted ends tucked into the rocks of a streambed or water fall.
